Week Eleven: Pilgrims and Letter E

It's Thanksgiving, It's Thanksgiving!
Time to eat, time to eat,
I like tasty turkey, I like tasty turkey,
What a treat! What a treat!

We had a great week learning all about Thanksgiving!

Our star student of the week was Athen.  Athen does a great job playing nicely with all of the children in the class and is a great friend.  Good work, Athen!

On Monday, Ms. Bridget from Dance Connection came and led some fun dancing and games.  Everyone had a great time!  Here are some photos and a few videos.

On Wednesday, we learned so much about the first Thanksgiving.  We talked about Native Americans and Pilgrims.  After "reading" some Native American picture drawings, we made our own Native American drums with line drawings on them.  Of course, we can't make drums without playing them.  So, here is one of our Thanksgiving songs accompanied by drums.

Friday was our Thanksgiving feast!  As I have said so many times before, this is one of my favorite days.  I will never get over how cute the kids look in their pilgrim hats eating around a big table together.  We made a yummy trail mix and beautiful turkey handprint placemats.

I hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving celebrating with family and friends!

Week Ten: America, Letter S, Number 3, Brown Day

This week we learned about America!  We learned all about the flag, the american eagle (the bird, not the roller coaster), the statue of liberty, and about George Washington.

Our star student this week was Ellie.  Ellie does a great job helping clean up after station time.  Good work, Ellie!

As a former music teacher, I love singing!  America week is a great time to introduce our little ones to some patriotic songs. Singing "Yankee Doodle" while pretending to ride on a pony was a big hit. We also learned "America the Beautiful" complete with sign language.  The kids did a great job! Here is a video (please ignore our not so good video taking skills.  Ms. Donna and I laughed a lot as we tried to use the video camera.)

Here we are on brown day!

Next week, I have the pleasure of meeting with you all during parent/teacher conferences.  I can't wait!  Here is our class newsletter for the week.  Have a great weekend!

Week Nine: Night time, Letter Q

We had a great night time week!

Our star student this past week was Mia.  Mia always raises her hand before speaking during circle time and is a good listener when her friends are speaking.  Great work, Mia!

On Wednesday, we had school picture day.  Everyone looked so nice for the pictures.  Here is a preview of our class.

On Friday, we had a great end of night time week pajama day!  The children loved wearing their pajamas to school and they were able to bring in their special cuddling night time things.  Some brought pillows, some brought blankets, some brought stuffed animals.  All were well loved.

As a special treat, we watched a movie during a popcorn snack time.  Nothing beats the cartoon "Where the Wild Things Are" in your pajamas with your favorite cuddly object.

Below is our newsletter for the week.  Sorry that I forgot to give you the paper version on Friday.  You will get it in the take home folder on Monday.  Have a great day!
