Welcome to the MWF afternoon 4's class!

My name is Ms. Gwen and I will be your child's preschool teacher.  Ms. Donna is our teacher's assistant for the year.

I would like to take a moment to formally introduce myself. I earned my Bachelor of Music Education with a Lutheran Teacher Certificate from Concordia University, River Forest. I taught music in the public school system from 2001-2009. In 2005, I finished my Masters of Music Education from VanderCook College of Music and in 2006, I became a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in Early to Middle Childhood.

After starting my family, (I have three wonderful children; Lia is 5 years old, Ellie is 2 years old, and Zeke is 3 months old) I decided that I wanted to teach part time so that I could spend more time at home with the kids. I am a member of Lord of Glory, and so I happily enrolled Lia in the two-year-old program here at Gloryland three years ago. She had such a wonderful experience, I applied to teach at Gloryland.  This is my third year as the afternoon 4’s teacher.

Nothing makes me more excited than being able to get to know your children. After teaching 300 children a year as a music teacher, I look forward to really learning about and growing with 13 children. Some of my hobbies include reading, scrapbooking, and working with the youth of Lord of Glory.  I can't wait to meet your families.

Please feel free to contact me any time with questions, concerns, or comments at johnson_gwen@yahoo.com.

This is a picture of me and my family from my son's baptism.
