Week 24: Dr. Seuss/Letter L/Number 9

"Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one."
-Dr. Seuss

What a fun week! We started with a visit from a few high school kids from the Grayslake North band. They played their instruments for us, read a fun music book, and led us in a marching band. We loved hearing them play and adding our instruments to the band too!

And then it was on to all things Dr. Seuss! We read so many Dr. Seuss books..."Cat in the Hat," "Green Eggs and Ham," "Mr. Brown Can Moo...Can You?" "Wocket in my Pocket," "Fox in Socks," and "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish."

In "Fox in Sox," there is gooey goo. So, we made some gooey goo ourselves. The kids loved the goo!

We had a great green day on Wednesday. Look at our green group!

On Friday, we made our "Cat in the Hat" hats. Plus, we wore crazy socks for "Fox in Socks." During snack time, we watched a part of the cartoon version of "Cat in the Hat." I just love Dr. Seuss!

Here is our classroom newsletter for the week. And I'll end with this wonderful Dr. Seuss quote...
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

Week 23: Farm/ Letter L/ Number 8

It's time to go down on the farm! Farm week is such a blast! Not sure who loves it more, me or the students. Some of my favorite songs are this week; "Down on Grandpa's Farm," "Old Macdonald," "Pig on my Head," "I Know a Chicken." So much fun!

Here are some great pictures of all the activities we did during farm week.

Getting ready to pray before snack time.

Trying out the butter we made on a cracker.

My favorite quote, "It tastes like butter!"

Playing together during free play.

Working together to put together a farm puzzle.

Putting "mud" on their pigs.

Very squishy!

Playing with chalk on a somewhat warm afternoon.
Wish it wasn't so windy!

Beautiful chalk art.

More chalk art.

Here is our classroom newsletter for the week. Can't wait for Dr. Seuss fun next week!

Week 22: My healthy body/Letter P

A very short week this week!  No school on Monday and a snow day on Friday...here is one day of very fun and important work!

We had a great visit from a dental hygienist to talk all about keeping our teeth healthy and strong. Now all the children are experts in taking care of their teeth!

Back in the classroom, we used our new knowledge to practice using toothbrushes on some pretend fruit in the water table. It was very fun!

We also spent time talking about the importance of healthy eating, moving our bodies, and getting good sleep at night.  Phew! That was a very busy day!

Here is our classroom newsletter for the week and our March snack calendar.  Next week we will be learning all about the farm!

Week 21: Zoo/Circus/Valentine's Day

What a wonderful week!  We had a great Valentine's Day celebration, a fun time pretending to visit the circus, and an awesome time talking about the zoo!

Here are some pictures from the Valentine's Day celebration!

Ms. MaryBeth from the Grayslake library came to read us stories about friendship on Wednesday. She brought George the dog again too!

On Friday, we marble painted a Zebra, cut and sorted animals, played with geoboards, and had time for free play.

Here is our classroom newsletter for the week.  Looking forward to learning about our healthy bodies next week!
